Bruno Guimaraes may leave Newcastle this summer, according to head coach Eddie Howe.
The Magpies boss admitted he is unsure whether the Brazilian midfielder will remain at St James’ Park for the new Premier League campaign, with Arsenal ramping up their interest.
Speaking on the club’s pre-season tour, Howe revealed: “We’ve had some really good conversations, before the World Cup, during the World Cup and after the World Cup.
“What we speak about obviously has to remain private, but just a great player, a great person.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen with Bruno’s future. That’s for other people to speculate about, but also conversations that I’m not part of.”
Newcastle have sold a lot of their top players in the last 12 months, with Alexander Isak joining Liverpool in 2025 for a huge £125m fee.
On top of that, Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali have both left this summer, joining Barcelona and Tottenham respectively.
“We don’t want to lose our best players,” Howe added. “That’s an obvious statement to make. So, losing those big two is painful for us, and difficult.
“For me, it’s been another challenging summer so far, but we’re always trying to do our best for the football club, short and long-term, and try and get the squad in its best shape.”
Arsenal are set to test Newcastle’s resolve once again with a £70m bid for Guimaraes, although the club’s stance remains that he is not for sale.
