Who we are
Dragon Football is run by Dragon Sports Media Limited (company number 15866644), part of the Lovells Group. We are a small editorial team based in the UK, writing for people who follow English football past the Premier League's top six.
The site started with a simple frustration. The lower leagues, club finances and the human stories around them get a fraction of the coverage they deserve. We set out to fix that with proper data and proper writing.
What we cover
Five things, in depth:
- The leagues, top to bottom: the Premier League through to the National League, with the same care given to League Two as to the title race.
- Club finances: wage bills, debt, profit and loss, ownership, all read straight from the filed accounts.
- The transfer market: deals, rumours and the track record of the people reporting them.
- Managers: who is under pressure, who is doing well on a shoestring, and the records behind the noise.
- Players: careers, contracts and form, with context around the raw numbers.
Where our data comes from
We are open about every source. The match and player data comes from Sportmonks. The financial data we read ourselves from Companies House filings, parsing the accounts line by line straight from the source documents. Stadium and ownership details draw on public records including the Land Registry.
Every data-led page carries a credit line naming its sources and how often the numbers refresh. If a figure came from a club's own accounts, we say so.
How we check it
Numbers get verified against the original filing before they go live. Where a club files abridged accounts that leave out a figure, we mark it as undisclosed. Our full approach is written up in our editorial standards, and the maths behind our calculated metrics is set out in our methodology.
We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we fix it and say what changed. See our corrections policy.
How we use AI
We use AI as a tool, with a person responsible for everything published. It helps us draft data summaries, sort large filings and spot patterns across thousands of records. It does not get the final say. An editor reviews data-led writing before it goes out, and our longer pieces are written by people. Our full position is in our AI disclosure.
The team
A core editorial team runs the site day to day, commissioning and checking the writing. Longer features and club coverage come from named contributors, football writers we commission through DragonFC, each credited on their work. As we add bylined writers, you will find them linked from the pieces they produce.
Sister to DragonBet
Dragon Football sits inside the Lovells Group alongside DragonBet, the group's UK-licensed sportsbook (UKGC 64908). It's a sister site we'll happily point readers towards where it's useful — those links carry a "Bet Now" label. Editorial sits with the Dragon Football team, who commission, write and check every piece. The mechanics of the commercial links are covered in our affiliate disclosure.
Betting is for over-18s only. If it stops being fun, help is available: see our responsible gambling page.
