What the 115 charges actually cover
The Premier League announced the charges on 6 February 2023 and referred the case to an independent commission. They break down into five groups.

The timeline
| March 2019 | The Premier League opens its investigation after leaked internal club emails are published by Der Spiegel. |
| February 2020 | Separately, UEFA bans City from European competition for two seasons over FFP breaches. |
| July 2020 | The Court of Arbitration for Sport overturns the UEFA ban, finding some alleged breaches not established and others time-barred. The fine is cut to €10m. |
| 6 February 2023 | The Premier League charges City with 115 alleged breaches of its rules and refers the case to an independent commission. City deny all charges. |
| September 2024 | The hearing begins before a three-person independent commission at the International Dispute Resolution Centre in London. |

What punishment could City face?
The commission has a free hand, and there is no direct precedent for a case of this size. The realistic range, as discussed by sports lawyers throughout the case: cleared in full, fines, points deductions, stripped titles, or at the extreme end expulsion from the league. For comparison, the largest deduction ever applied in the Premier League era is 10 points, and recent PSR cases (Everton, Nottingham Forest) drew deductions of 2 to 6 points for single-season breaches. City's case covers nine seasons and a different class of allegation, so those cases are a floor for the debate, and no more than that.
Whatever the outcome, either side can appeal, so the final resolution may arrive well after the first verdict.
