Exeter City came from behind to beat Wigan Athletic 3-2 at home on 21 March, producing a performance that grew in authority as the afternoon wore on.

Wigan made a purposeful start. Joe Taylor put the hosts ahead inside five minutes, and Josh Magennis doubled their advantage on 14 minutes, giving Wigan a comfortable platform from which to operate. Exeter looked uncertain in the opening quarter, unable to press high with any consistency.

The visitors pulled one back through J. Yfeko on 29 minutes, and the half ended with Wigan's lead suddenly looking more fragile than the scoreline suggested. The second half changed the picture entirely. Danny Andrew levelled immediately after the restart, and Dara Costelloe put Exeter ahead on 61 minutes. Wigan responded with changes, and Akeel Higgins offered some energy from the bench, but they could not restore parity.

Joseph Hungbo made it 4-2 to Exeter on 82 minutes, though by that stage Wigan had already conceded control of both territory and tempo. Christian Saydee, Fraser Murray, and Danny Andrew added further goals in the closing stages, with Raphael Borges Rodrigues completing the scoring in stoppage time.

The final margin flattered no one. Exeter's second-half performance was sustained and disciplined, while Wigan's early two-goal lead proved deceptive. Once Exeter found their structure, there was rarely any way back for the home side.
