Bradford City came from behind to win 2-1 at Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon, with both goals arriving in a frantic second-half period that settled a contest Wigan had appeared to be shaping on their own terms.

Wigan made the brighter start and went ahead through C. Vickers on 20 minutes, a lead they carried into the break after Will Aimson and Jason Kerr were both booked either side of the half-hour mark, suggesting Bradford were struggling to contain the home side's forward momentum.

The match changed immediately after the interval. Will Swan and Paul Mullin came on for Bradford at half-time, and the visitors levelled through Stephen Humphrys within seconds of the restart. Matthew Smith then gave Bradford the lead on 59 minutes, and Wigan never recovered that advantage.

Substitutions shaped much of the second half. Harrison Ashby was shown a second yellow card on 90 minutes, having already received a booking, which left Wigan a man short when they could least afford it. Joseph Hungbo and Luke Robinson were also cautioned in injury time, reflecting the ill-discipline that characterised Wigan's closing stages.

Ibou Touray and Jensen Weir came on for Wigan in the 66th and 68th minutes respectively, but the changes produced little. Bradford, for their part, brought on Joe Taylor, Raphael Borges Rodrigues and Christian Saydee late on and saw the game out without further alarm.
