Blackpool and Wigan Athletic shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw that turned almost entirely on a frantic second-half spell, after a composed first period had suggested little of what was to follow.

Oliver Casey put Wigan ahead inside four minutes, heading home to give Gary Caldwell's side early control. Blackpool struggled to find a response before the break, and Owen Moxon's booking on 39 minutes reflected a home side working hard simply to stay level with the contest.

The second half changed everything. Matthew Smith's yellow card on 57 minutes came in the same minute as Joseph Hungbo's equaliser for Blackpool, a moment that shifted the momentum abruptly. Fraser Murray then added his name to the referee's book on 60 minutes, and by the 65th minute Karoy Anderson had followed. Luke Robinson was cautioned a minute later. Michael Ihiekwe went on 67 minutes, Caldwell himself was dismissed from the technical area on 68 minutes, and Niall Ennis collected a booking on 69 minutes. Seven bookings and a managerial dismissal within twelve minutes left both dugouts rattled and the match increasingly difficult to manage.

Blackpool pressed for a winner but could not find one. Josh Bowler and J. Randall both received late cautions in the 89th minute, a fitting conclusion to an afternoon defined more by ill discipline than quality.

The point leaves questions hanging over both clubs heading into the coming weeks.
