Fleetwood Town came from behind to beat Barrow 2-0 on Saturday, though the scoreline flatters neither side's afternoon and barely captures the turbulent nature of a match that produced a remarkable volume of cards and substitutions in the closing stages.

Barrow started the sharper of the two sides. Josh Gordon gave them the lead in the twelfth minute, and for the better part of the first half they looked the more composed outfit. Fleetwood struggled to build through midfield, and Jay Lynch was kept occupied in the home goal. Niall Canavan's dismissal shortly before the interval threatened to unravel Barrow entirely, and Rekeem Harper capitalised before the half-time whistle to draw Fleetwood level.

Ched Evans put the hosts ahead within a minute of the restart, a moment that shifted the balance of the contest decisively. Barrow, reduced to ten men and visibly tiring, could not sustain the pressure required to respond.

Detlef Esapa Osong added further gloss with a brace between the 61st and 64th minutes, though the final quarter grew increasingly fractious. Evans and Josh Gordon were both shown red cards, as were Crispin McLean and Josh Powell in quick succession. Jovan Malcolm and Wyll Stanway also entered proceedings late on, though the result was long settled by then.

Fleetwood's second-half discipline and direct play proved the difference. Barrow will reflect on Canavan's red card as the moment that cost them.
