Rotherham United beat Cardiff City 3-1 on Saturday afternoon, a result that reflected the home side's greater composure across ninety minutes rather than any collapse from the visitors.

Cardiff made the stronger start. Ollie Tanner gave them the lead at eleven minutes, and Ryan Wintle added a second ten minutes later. With Will Fish earning a booking late in the first half and Omari Kellyman following him into the referee's notebook two minutes after, the afternoon looked as though it might turn awkward for Rotherham.

It did not. Two goals in the opening minute of the second half changed everything. Brandon Cover and Ar'jany Martha both scored at the forty-sixth minute, levelling and then overturning the deficit before Cardiff had found their footing after the interval. That double strike, delivered with something close to brutal efficiency, took the wind from Cardiff entirely.

Chris Willock came on at fifty-eight minutes as Cardiff attempted to respond, but Rotherham continued to press. Gabriele Biancheri added a third at sixty-five minutes, and though the scoreline thereafter held firm, the match never truly felt in doubt again.

Sam Nombe came on as a late substitute for Rotherham, and a succession of changes in the closing stages suggested both managers had accepted the outcome. Ar'jany Martha picked up a booking at seventy-two minutes but saw out the game without further incident.

Three points to Rotherham, earned through a second half that bore no resemblance to the first.
