Port Vale defeated Bradford City 2-0 on Wednesday evening, a result that felt settled well before the final whistle despite a congested substitution sheet suggesting otherwise.

Vale controlled the first half with more purpose and directness, and Bobby Pointon gave them the lead on 31 minutes, finishing to put the home side in front. Bradford offered little in response and the half-time interval brought a flurry of changes from both benches, with Archer, Shipley and Ward all introduced as the second period began.

The flow of the game shifted briefly after the restart. Power came on at 51 minutes for Vale, and Campbell and Tyreik Wright followed in the hour, the latter injecting pace down the flanks. Liam Gordon also entered around that period, and Bradford attempted to press higher as the game opened up.

Mullin, Humphrys and Swan arrived together on 70 minutes, the kind of triple change that can disrupt rhythm on both sides. It did not alter the outcome. Bradford pushed bodies forward but lacked the composure to test Vale's goalkeeper with any conviction.

Dajaune Brown and Connor Hall came on in the final ten minutes, and Wright rounded off the evening in stoppage time to seal the second goal. Harrison Ashby had entered on 80 minutes but Vale were already managing the game comfortably by that stage.

A disciplined home performance, with Bradford offering too little, too late.
