Harrogate Town beat Cambridge United in a match that produced a remarkable volume of activity across ninety minutes, the contest swinging repeatedly before the hosts held on for a narrow victory.

Bryn Morris gave Harrogate an early foothold in the eighth minute, and the opening half-hour proved relentless. Emmerson Sutton levelled for Cambridge within sixteen minutes, only for Liam Bennett and Emile Acquah to exchange contributions either side of the half-hour mark, with Ellis Taylor adding further before the interval. Shayne Lavery and B. Purrington both made their marks right on half-time, ensuring the teams went in with the scoreline complicated and the game far from settled.

The second half continued at the same tempo. Tobias Brenan and George Thomson altered things around the sixty-sixth minute, followed immediately by Elliott Nevitt and George Hoddle in a frantic sequence that compressed several significant moments into the space of two minutes. Jack Evans and Shane McLoughlin both featured inside the seventy-fifth minute as the game remained open and neither side appeared comfortable.

Jack Muldoon and Henry Gray contributed late, the final changes arriving in the eighty-fourth and eighty-seventh minutes respectively. By then Harrogate had done enough to secure the points, although Cambridge pressed consistently and deserved credit for refusing to settle.

Harrogate's ability to absorb late pressure and maintain their lead through a congested second period ultimately separated the two sides.
