Huddersfield Town drew 1-1 with Reading on Friday afternoon in a match that shifted notably in the final quarter, after the visitors had largely held the upper hand through the middle period.

Paudie O'Connor gave Huddersfield the lead on 24 minutes, and for a time the home side looked capable of seeing it through. Reading, however, grew into the contest and began to find their rhythm after the hour mark. A flurry of substitutions on both sides disrupted any settled pattern, with David Kasumu and George Sebine entering for Reading around the 59th minute, and Ryan Ledson and J. Feeney coming on for Huddersfield shortly after.

Reading's pressure eventually told when Matt Ritchie equalised on 83 minutes, the same minute Paddy Lane and Will Keane were introduced by Huddersfield in search of a response. Martin Drury and George Sebine were both involved in changes moments later as both managers emptied their benches.

Late additions from Andy Yiadom and Lasse Sørensen on 90 minutes underlined how stretched the game had become in its closing stages, with neither side able to find a winner. Earlier bookings for Lewis Wing, twice, Charlie Savage, and Haydon Roberts suggested the contest had an edge that the scoreline perhaps does not fully reflect.

A point each leaves both clubs with work to do, though Reading will feel they were the side more likely to win it had time allowed.
