Leicester City beat Preston North End 2-1 at home on Friday afternoon, though the scoreline did little justice to the chaos that unfolded across ninety minutes.

Patson Daka gave Leicester the lead inside four minutes, finishing with composure after Preston failed to clear. Andrew Moran doubled the advantage in the 15th minute, and his second goal on 38 minutes appeared to put the match beyond Preston's reach. Leicester went into half-time with a commanding 3-0 lead, Ben Whiteman pulling one back for Preston right on the stroke of the interval to give the visitors a foothold.

Preston emerged from the dressing room with considerably more purpose. Jordan Storey reduced the deficit further on 57 minutes, and a flurry of substitutions at the hour mark disrupted Leicester's rhythm entirely. Lewis Gibson and Brad Potts both came on and made an immediate impression, contributing to a period in which Preston levelled the contest.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid restored Leicester's lead on 75 minutes, only for Michael Smith to equalise five minutes later. The closing stages were unsettled on both sides, with Jeremy Monga and Jordan Ayew introduced late for Leicester as the home side searched for a winner.

Jannik Vestergaard provided it in stoppage time, heading home to seal a 2-1 final scoreline that, by this point, reflected only the last few minutes rather than the extraordinary shifts in momentum that had defined the afternoon.
