Fulham beat Burnley 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in a match that the home side controlled for long stretches without ever fully convincing.

Lesley Ugochukwu gave Fulham the lead on 18 minutes, and for the remainder of the first half the hosts looked reasonably assured. Burnley's Josh Laurent was booked before the break, a sign of the visitors' growing frustration as Fulham's midfield kept the ball moving through the lines.

Antonee Robinson's withdrawal on 55 minutes preceded a spell of sustained Burnley pressure, and Scott Parker's side began to find more space in behind. Zian Flemming departed at the hour mark alongside Ryan Sessegnon, with Samuel Chukwueze and James Ward-Prowse introduced in quick succession as both managers attempted to shift the contest.

The most eventful passage came around the 78th minute. Marcus Edwards and Ashley Barnes both received cards, thinning the space for either team to build coherently. Harrison Reed was booked ten minutes later, and Raúl Jiménez collected a second caution in the 90th minute to leave Fulham finishing with ten men. Josh Laurent was also dismissed late, meaning Burnley ended the afternoon short-handed as well.

Despite the late disorder, the scoreline held. Fulham's single goal, scored early and defended carefully through two hours of attrition, was enough. Burnley rarely threatened the goalkeeper in open play and leave west London with nothing to show for an afternoon of effort without end product.
