Ipswich Town fell to a 5-0 defeat at home to Swansea City on Saturday, a result that flattered neither side given how comprehensively the visitors controlled proceedings from the opening minutes.

Anis Mehmeti set the tone almost immediately, opening the scoring inside three minutes, and Swansea's grip on the contest never loosened. Mehmeti added a second on 39 minutes, and Iván Azón made it three just before half-time, leaving Ipswich with a mountain they were never equipped to climb.

The second half brought no relief. Ronald and Zan Vipotnik were both introduced at the break and contributed to a Swansea side that continued to move the ball with purpose. Gonçalo Franco added a fourth on 55 minutes, and though Ipswich made changes of their own, bringing on Jack Clarke and Jack Taylor around the hour mark, neither could alter the game's complexion.

Swansea's fifth came through Leo Walta on 75 minutes, by which point Ipswich had long since ceased to threaten. Joel Ward was introduced shortly after, though the contest was already settled.

George Hirst's introduction at 69 minutes and the earlier withdrawal of Kasey McAteer pointed to an Ipswich side searching for answers that never came. Jens Cajuste completed the rout with a late substitute appearance.

Swansea were dominant in every phase and leave Portman Road with maximum points entirely merited.
