Sheffield United won 0-2 at Ashton Gate on Monday afternoon, a result that flattered Bristol City's resistance more than it reflected the visitors' dominance across the full ninety minutes.

The Blades settled quickly and Tom Cannon gave them the lead on twenty minutes, finishing with composure after United carved through a disorganised home defence. Bristol City had barely threatened at the other end, and the scoreline felt inevitable from that point.

The second half opened with immediate consequences for the hosts. Andre Brooks and Gustavo Hamer were both withdrawn at the interval, sacrificed in what appeared to be a tactical reset, and the changes unsettled City's shape further. Brooks, one of the substitutes brought on, made an impression after coming off the bench himself at sixty-six minutes, though it was Patrick Bamford's arrival at sixty-nine minutes that sharpened United's forward play.

Delano Burgzorg extended the lead on seventy-four minutes, converting after persistent pressing won possession in a dangerous area. Sheffield United managed the closing stages professionally, with Oliver Arblaster and Ki-Jana Hoever helping to retain possession and run down the clock.

Bristol City offered very little by way of a response. Sam Bell's introduction at eighty-two minutes produced no meaningful improvement, and Callum O'Hare's late cameo changed nothing. Sheffield United were the superior side throughout and deserved every point.
