Wolverhampton Wanderers came from behind to beat Arsenal 2-1 on Wednesday evening, a result that will sting the visitors considerably given how comfortably they appeared to be moving through the opening stages.

Bukayo Saka gave Arsenal the lead inside five minutes, finishing with the composure that has become his trademark. For nearly twenty minutes, Arsenal controlled territory and tempo, and a second goal looked the likelier outcome than any Wolves response.

Tolu Arokodare changed that. His equaliser on 22 minutes gave Wolves a foothold they would not relinquish. Santiago Bueno then put the home side ahead before half-time, heading home to send Molineux into considerable noise. Arsenal had allowed the game to slip away from them inside the final minutes of the first half, and they never fully recovered their earlier authority.

The second half brought a flurry of substitutions from both benches. Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Jesus came on for Arsenal in search of an equaliser, while Wolves introduced Rodrigo Gomes and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde to manage the game from a position of strength. Leandro Trossard drew Arsenal level on 73 minutes, briefly threatening a turnaround.

Tom Edozie settled it. His goal six minutes from time restored Wolves' lead, and though the closing stages produced bookings for Calafiori and Jesus, Arsenal could not find another opening. Wolves held firm and took all three points.
