Everything you need to know about Mornflake Stadium, home of League Two side Crewe Alexandra
The Mornflake Stadium is the home of Crewe Alexandra, one of the oldest professional football clubs in the United Kingdom.
For many football fans, including those who follow Crewe, the ground will always be known as Gresty Road, despite the arena being renamed to the Mornflake Stadium as part of a sponsorship deal in 2021.
In terms of its size, the Mornflake Stadium is modest, with a capacity of just 10,153, and Crewe typically only half-fills it.
The stadium is made up of four stands, with the biggest being the Boughey Stand on one side of the pitch. This stand has more seats than the other three combined, and is also where the hospitality facilities are.
Opposite is the Whitby Morrison Ice Cream Van Stand, while the two ends are called the KPI Recruiting Stand and the Andrew Connolly Financial Planning Stand.
The overall vibe of the ground is one of tradition. It is a throwback with open corners, so it is definitely somewhere worth visiting if you want to experience what going to the football used to be like before the Premier League.
Mornflake Stadium away end
The away end at the Mornflake Stadium is located opposite the Boughey Stand in the Whitby Morrison Ice Cream Van Stand. Away fans are entitled to the full 1,680 allocation, but many clubs in League Two take a smaller cut.
There are pros and cons to this stand, with the biggest negative being that it is located on the side of the pitch, which, for whatever reason, often results in poor away atmospheres. On the flip side, the view of the pitch and the acoustics are excellent.
Visiting supporters can rest assured that the stand will remain known as the Whitby Morrison Ice Cream Stand for the foreseeable future, as in 2021, Whitby Morrison announced a 99-year extension of their sponsorship deal for the stand.
Away-day experience
Crewe away is a day out that the vast majority of football fans enjoy, so it is no surprise that it has been crowned the League Two Away Fans Experience winners.
One of the best things about a trip to the Mornflake Stadium is the convenience. Crewe Railway Station is accessible from various northern and southern stations, and it’s on a direct line to London Euston.
The stadium is just a five-minute walk from the railway station, and the away stand is the first one you will come across when you arrive at the ground, making it easy to get in and out if you are using public transport.
Another good thing about Crewe away is how welcoming the pubs in the local area are to away fans. The Corner Bar, The Cheshire Inn and The Brunswick are all within one mile of the stadium, and all three allow away supporters in for a pre-match drink.
Inside the ground, fans are able to enjoy a pint and a burger, which is often all football fans want on an away day.
The only real complaint that visiting supporters have after a trip to the Mornflake Stadium is the toilet facilities, which, in fairness, are cramped and have seen better days.

Food and drink at the Mornflake Stadium
The food and drink on offer at the Mornflake Stadium is nothing to write home about and could certainly be improved.
There are two bar areas open on a matchday, both of which are only available to home supporters. The first is the Railwaymen Supporters Bar and Lounge, located at the back of the North Stand, where fans can buy soft and alcoholic drinks for up to three hours before kick-off.
The other bar area is the Family Lounge, which is only open for an hour before kick-off. The Family Lounge is in the East Stand and possesses several refreshment counters, where kids can pick up snacks and soft drinks.
In the away end, supporters can purchase hot food, including burgers, pies and hot dogs. Hot and cold drinks are also available, but alcohol is typically unavailable.
How to get to the Mornflake Stadium
By car
Fans who are driving to the Mornflake Stadium are advised that they cannot pre-book parking. There is a car park at the ground, but it is only available on a first-come, first-served basis. As of last season, the cost to park here was £6.
The stadium is accessible from junction 16 on the M6. After you have taken the exit, follow the signs for Crewe on the A500 and the A5020. At the first roundabout, take the third exit and then at the second roundabout, take the first exit.
After passing Crewe Hall on the right, continue down Weston Road. You will notice an industrial estate on this road on the right-hand side, and there is parking available within these grounds for away supporters.
Alternatively, carry on straight down Weston Road until you reach another roundabout. Here, take the first exit and head past the train station before turning left down Gresty Road to arrive at the stadium.
By train
Travelling to the Mornflake Stadium by train makes more sense than driving if you have the choice, as Crewe station is just a five-minute walk away from the ground. Crewe station is accessible via direct services from various major railway stations, including Manchester Piccadilly, Birmingham New Street and London Euston.
Disabled access at the Mornflake Stadium
Considering the stadium was built back in 1906, the disabled facilities inside the Mornflake Stadium are surprisingly good. There are 70 wheelchair bays available for home supporters, and 14 in the away end.
Blind supporters and those with partial visual impairment can also get support at the Mornflake Stadium by contacting the club prior to their visit.

Record attendance
The record attendance for a match at the Mornflake Stadium is 20,000, set during a 1960 match between Crewe and Tottenham. Back then, three of the four stands at the ground were standing terraces, which allowed for a greater capacity.
