Manchester City beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 in a match that changed shape dramatically across a frantic second half, with both sides trading goals in a five-minute spell that left the outcome uncertain until the closing stages.

Forest arrived well organised and grew into the contest. Antoine Semenyo gave them the lead on 31 minutes, and Ibrahim Sangaré doubled it before the break, leaving City with a difficult second half to negotiate.

The home side responded quickly after the interval. Morgan Gibbs-White pulled one back for Forest on 56 minutes, only for Murillo to restore the two-goal cushion four minutes later. Then came a remarkable passage of play. Rodri scored on 62 minutes, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Nikola Milenković exchanged efforts within seconds of each other on 63, and the scoreline shifted repeatedly inside three minutes.

Elliot Anderson and Jérémy Doku added their names to the scoresheet in the 76th and 77th minutes respectively, with Taiwo Awoniyi dismissed shortly after, reducing Forest to ten men and effectively settling the contest.

Savinho came on and contributed in the closing stages, and Matz Sels, Ryan Yates and Morato all featured in stoppage time, though City had done enough to hold on.

The result reflected City's ability to absorb pressure and respond decisively. Forest gave a creditable account for long periods but could not sustain their early advantage against a side that ultimately found its rhythm when it mattered most.
