Newcastle United beat Everton 3-0 at St. James' Park on Saturday afternoon, a result that flattered neither side in its early stages but grew increasingly convincing as the hosts tightened their grip.

Everton made a bright start. Jarrad Branthwaite's header on 19 minutes gave them the lead, and Jacob Ramsey doubled it before the half-hour was out. Beto added a third shortly after, and Newcastle found themselves three goals down before the interval with very little to show for their efforts.

The second half told a different story. Joe Willock pulled one back immediately after the restart, and the hosts began to press with greater urgency. Jacob Murphy levelled matters on 56 minutes, and the game shifted in Newcastle's favour from that point. Everton retreated, lost their shape, and left gaps that the home side were willing to exploit.

The decisive period came late. Thierno Barry scored on 74 minutes to put Newcastle ahead for the first time, and the lead was extended almost immediately. Murphy got his second on 82 minutes, Barry completed his brace in stoppage time, and Dan Burn added a sixth to confirm a remarkable second-half turnaround.

Michael Keane's late goal for Everton was nothing more than a consolation. The final scoreline of 3-0 does not reflect the full picture. Newcastle were three goals down at the break and still won. That alone tells the story.
