Northampton Town beat Leyton Orient 2-1 at Sixfields on Saturday afternoon, a result that extended their unbeaten home run and left the visitors with little to show for a second-half revival that came too late to matter.

Northampton settled quickly and took the lead inside ten minutes, Dominic Ballard finishing with composure to give the home side exactly the start they wanted. For the best part of the first hour, they controlled territory and tempo, limiting Orient to sporadic efforts without any real threat.

The game shifted sharply in the early stages of the second half. Michael Craig pulled a goal back for Orient on the stroke of half-time, and Jack Burroughs added to the visitors' momentum just seconds after the restart. Tom Eaves restored Northampton's lead on the hour, however, and that goal proved the difference despite Orient pressing hard thereafter.

A flurry of substitutions changed the shape and energy of the contest. Will Dennis, Daniel Happe, Theodore Archibald, and Azeem Abdulai all entered the action as both managers sought fresh legs. Nesta Guinness-Walker offered Orient width and directness down the flank, and Elliott List came close in stoppage time, though Jake Evans was also introduced late as Northampton looked to see out the result.

The final whistle confirmed a 2-1 home win. Northampton were the more composed side across the ninety minutes and deserved the three points.
