Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw on Monday evening, a result that neither side will consider particularly satisfying given the chances both created across ninety minutes.

Leeds edged the first half without making the most of their possession. Kevin Danso headed them in front on 41 minutes, converting from a set piece to reward a period of patient build-up from the visitors.

Tottenham equalised five minutes after the break. Mathys Tel found space inside the area and finished calmly, and from that point Spurs began to assert more control in midfield. Lukas Nmecha came on and added directness to the home side's attack, while James Maddison, introduced in the 85th minute, brought late composure to proceedings.

Leeds made their own changes, with Wilfried Gnonto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin both introduced as Daniel Farke searched for a winning goal. Joe Rodon went into the book late on, a sign of Leeds' growing desperation to protect what had been a decent defensive shape.

Pedro Porro worked hard down the right throughout, and Lucas Bergvall provided energy off the bench for Spurs. Roberto De Zerbi received a late touchline ban, though it had no bearing on the final outcome.

The draw leaves both clubs with work to do. Tottenham lacked the cutting edge to press home their second-half advantage, and Leeds, despite their organisation, could not hold the lead they had earned.
