Cambridge United left the Banks's Stadium with a convincing victory, beating Walsall 3-0 in a match that never truly threatened to go the home side's way.

The visitors took control early when Sullay Kaikai broke the deadlock on 24 minutes, finishing with composure to give Cambridge a deserved lead. Walsall offered little in response and struggled to build any sustained pressure before the interval.

The second half settled the contest within minutes of the restart. Aden Flint and Alexander Pattison both scored at the 52-minute mark, a rapid double that extinguished any realistic hope of a Walsall comeback. The home crowd had little to lift them, and the team offered them even less.

Cambridge made changes as the hour approached, with Dominic Ball introduced around the 59-minute mark. Further alterations followed on 67 minutes, including Aaron Pressley, Shayne Francis Lavery, and B. Purrington entering proceedings, before Adam Mayor, James Brophy, Alfie Chang, and Rico Richards all came on in the final quarter of the match.

The substitutions did not affect the flow of the game. Cambridge retained their shape and kept Walsall at arm's length without needing to extend themselves.

Walsall remain in difficulties. They created little, defended poorly at key moments, and were outclassed by a Cambridge side that managed the game sensibly once they had established their lead. The margin flattered neither team.
