The Price of Football: Every Premier League club ranked by the cost of all 38 games
For millions of football fans across the UK, following their team is not a hobby; it’s a way of life.
It’s not a matter of whether they’re buying tickets for that midweek away game, but how they’re getting there.
However, the cost of this dedicated support is escalating each season.
Fourteen of the 20 Premier League clubs have hiked season ticket prices for the 2026/27 season.
And while the price of away tickets will remain capped at £30, the cost of travelling to the stadium continues to increase.
It’s not as if all Premier League fans are forking out the same amount either…
In fact, there’s a huge difference between how much you’ll pay to watch a 38-game season depending on who you support.
We have calculated the costs of following each Premier League team in 2026/27, based on season-ticket prices and travelling to all 19 away fixtures.
The figures WILL shock you.
How much will Premier League fans pay for season tickets in 2026/27?
The Premier League is regarded by many as the ‘best league in the world’, but fans pay a significant premium to watch their teams compete.
In most cases, you need to join a waiting list before getting the chance to buy a season ticket, and it can be a long wait with few fans willing to give up their seats.
That’s despite renewal costs increasing regularly. Only six teams have frozen season ticket prices for 2026/27. Of these, four increased prices ahead of last season. Tottenham (two seasons) and Manchester City (three seasons) are the only teams to have frozen prices for consecutive seasons.
Fans of the three promoted teams face the biggest price hikes. The cheapest season tickets at Coventry will cost 15% more, while Ipswich (13.94%) and Hull (10%) fans will also pay significantly more for their cheap seats. That’s for 19 home games, instead of 23 in the Championship.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa, Brentford, Manchester United and Newcastle all raised the renewal costs of their cheapest season tickets by 5%, which is significantly higher than inflation (The CPI rose by 3% in the 12 months to May 2026).

The figures above reveal the costs of the cheapest available 2026/27 adult season ticket at each Premier League club.
Already, we can see huge differences in the amounts that each club expects their fans to fork out.
Arsenal fans renewing their season ticket will pay at least £978 for the pleasure of watching the Gunners. The most affordable season ticket at Newcastle (£380) is 61% cheaper.

Premier League maintains £30 cap on away tickets
The £30 price cap for Premier League away tickets was introduced at the start of the 2016/17 season.
In March 2026, all 20 clubs agreed to maintain the price cap for at least another two years.
That means fans planning to travel to all 19 away games will pay no more than £570 for their tickets.
Considering how sharply the cost of almost everything has risen since 2016, Premier League clubs should be applauded for sticking to this initiative.
Some away tickets can cost less than £30, but this is uncommon.
So, for the purposes of our comparison, we’ll assume fans of every team will pay £570 in total.
Which Premier League fans travel furthest for away games?
The cost of living has rocketed for UK households in recent years. Indeed, rising fuel costs are one of the biggest concerns for families struggling to make ends meet.
Petrol prices averaged 151.40p per litre on 1 July 2026, according to the RAC. That’s a 12.1% increase year-on-year.
That will hit the pockets of Premier League fans driving to away games throughout 2026/27, particularly those living in the North East or on the South Coast.

The table shows that Newcastle, Sunderland, Bournemouth and Brighton fans will clock up the most miles following their team around the UK (assuming they live near their team’s stadium, of course).
Newcastle fans have the furthest to travel to watch all 19 of their Premier League away games next season. A hefty 8,381 miles, according to our calculations.
Based on a car that does 42.8 miles per gallon, that’ll cost £1,342.44 in petrol. Add £570 worth of tickets and the Toon Army can expect to pay £1,912.44 each to attend 19 away games. That’s quite a sum to watch a team that managed only four away wins last season (4W, 5D, 10L).
It’s a 695-mile round trip from Newcastle to Bournemouth, which is around twelve hours of driving that’ll cost an estimated £111.31 in petrol. Toon fans would pay roughly £110.56 to get to Brighton.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth and Brighton fans travelling to Sunderland can expect to pay well over £100 at the pumps.

Fans in the Midlands have the shortest distances to travel. Our calculations suggest that Coventry fans will only pay £719 in fuel costs, with Aston Villa (£747) and Nottingham Forest (£749) fans paying slightly more.
Londoners are the next most fortunate. There are six London clubs in the Premier League next season, giving fans of these teams a short journey for five away games.

Of course, not everyone chooses to drive to the football. Londoners can get to the game using the Tube or other public transport.
For longer away games, Premier League clubs tend to provide official coach travel, while it’s common to see hoards of football fans on the train most weekends. UK rail prices were frozen in March 2026 until at least March 2027.
Still, for our comparison, we used estimated petrol costs to determine travel costs for Premier League fans.
Which Premier League fans pay the most to follow their team for 38 games?
The table below reveals how much Premier League supporters will pay to watch all 38 of their team’s league fixtures in 2026/27.
This is based on each club’s cheapest season ticket, £30 away tickets and petrol costs for a return journey from their city to each Premier League stadium.

Our calculations suggest that Sunderland fans face the highest costs to witness a 38-game season. They will pay an eye-watering £2,339.24 for the honour of watching their team.
This does not include their Europa League fixtures either. The Black Cats will play at least four home games and four away against continental opposition next season. Hardcore fans will be desperate to attend their team’s first European campaign for 53 years.
Arsenal ranked as the second-most expensive team to follow, mostly due to their pricey season tickets. The Gunners also offer 23-game tickets, which include four Champions League group stage fixtures, starting at £1,171.
Meanwhile, Brentford fans will pay as little as £485 for a season ticket and £1,860.05 to watch all 38 games. That’s still very expensive, but it’s £479.19 cheaper than Sunderland and the least costly of all 20 Premier League teams.
Is it worth the money? For many Premier League fans, the answer is: it doesn’t matter.
The cost of living crisis may stretch household budgets across the country, but it rarely breaks the bond between supporters and their teams.
Premier League clubs now charge as much as £85 for replica shirts. Fans still buy them.
They move kick-off times at short notice. Stadiums still sell out.
The loyalty is seemingly unbreakable.
Football is often described as a religion, and for many fans, that’s not far from the truth. They’ll continue making the pilgrimage, no matter the cost or inconvenience.
