Going concern watch
English football clubs where the directors have explicitly flagged material uncertainty about the club's ability to continue as a going concern. That's the strongest financial warning sign available in UK statutory accounts. A going-concern qualification typically precedes administration by 12-18 months.

What "going concern uncertainty" means
UK statutory accounts are prepared on a going-concern basis by default: the directors assert the company can continue trading for at least 12 months from the date the accounts are signed. If they CAN'T make that assertion confidently, they must add a material uncertainty note. The auditor then either signs off with that note (qualified opinion) or in worst cases refuses to sign at all.
For football clubs, going-concern uncertainty is the strongest signal we get from filed accounts. Bury, Macclesfield, Reading and several others were flagged here before administration. By contrast, big-six clubs almost never appear because their owner-loan funding is committed.
