Turnover vs net assets — they tell different stories

Turnover (revenue) is what a club brings in each year. Net assets is the cumulative balance sheet position — how much the company is worth on paper. A club can have huge turnover but tiny net assets if owners have run up debt to fund spending (see Chelsea), or modest turnover but big net assets if they've banked profits and bought their stadium outright (see Brighton, Arsenal).

Neither metric is "true" wealth on its own. Brand value (Brand Finance / Deloitte) is another measure — Real Madrid and Manchester United typically top those rankings. We focus on the audited statutory numbers from filed accounts because they're verifiable.
